BY RON BARTANEN ─ Who has the answers to the big questions of life? Without hesitation, we would say that Jesus has the answers—or more to the point, Jesus IS the answer.
Jesus is the answer to our desire for a meaningful life.
He said, “I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly” (John 10:10).
Jesus is the answer to what is most important in life.
He said, “No man can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will hold to one and despise the other“ (Matthew 6:24). The only position Jesus Christ will occupy in one’s heart is first place.
Jesus is the answer to our discontentment.
The apostle Paul affirmed as much when he wrote, “I have learned in whatsoever state I am, therein to be content… I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me” (Philippians 4:11, 13).
Jesus is the answer to death.
He declared, “I am the resurrection and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: and whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?” (John 11:25-26) The apostle Paul, in the context of the resurrection of the righteous at the coming of Christ, wrote, “O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law, but thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ” (1 Cor. 15:55-57).
Jesus is the answer to our quest for a right-standing with God.
He said, “I am the way, the truth and the life: no man cometh to the Father but by me” (John 14:6). Those who would accept Him as Savior and Lord through believing in Him as the crucified and risen Son of God, repenting of one’s sins, and upon a confession of faith, being baptized in His name, are given assurance of acceptance with God in His family (Mark 16:15-16; Acts 2:38; Romans 10:9-10; Acts 22:16).
