Forgiving Ourselves

Featured Post Image - Forgiving Ourselves

I remember a young man stepping out of the baptistery to say, “God has forgiven me. Now I need to forgive myself.” He was right.

Failure to forgive ourselves provides Satan with a powerful tool for his destructive purposes. Satan can use the burden of past guilt to discourage and drag a soul through the mire. Energy and thoughts that should be spent on pushing forward with gratitude, worship, service and devotion can descend into a spiral of self-condemnation.

Christ’s blood is more powerful than our past sins. Hebrews 8:12 states the truth bluntly. “I will remember their sins no more.”

Scripture tells us to forgive others as God has forgiven us (Ephesians 4:32). If we fail to embrace our forgiveness, how well can we live in forgiving others?

Let’s not grant Satan an unnecessary weapon against us. We are God’s new creation.
