Ask God

Featured Post Image - Ask God

Jesus had much to say about prayer in the sermon on the mount. Among other things, this:

Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened for you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. Matthew 7.7-8 NET.

God wants his children to ask him for the needs of their lives and for the progress of the gospel. Prayer, as a teacher once said in a didactic phrase, is the way to obtain things from God. It is much more than that, but often we do not have because we do not ask, James 4.2.

We do not demand anything from God. We do not bargain with God to receive something. We can offer him nothing that he did not give us, nor can we promise him anything in terms of being better people if only he would help us.

God gives because it is his nature. He gives because he delights in giving to us. He gives so that he may be glorified in us.

Ask of God, and be certain that he will give you what you ask for, or even something better.
