What the nobleman in Cana can teach all fathers

People from Nazareth, whether deservedly or not, had a reputation with others in Israel (John 1:43-46). But there was a certain nobleman who lived in Cana who obviously did not have a problem with people from Nazareth, or he learned to get over his problem very quickly! We can read about him in John 4:46-54.

This particular nobleman had a sick son; a gravely sick son who was in immediate need of medical attention. When the nobleman heard Jesus was in the area he went to plead for help with great desperation. The nobleman was given exactly what he sought.

There are a few lessons from the nobleman’s situation worth noting, but I want to draw your attention to one … when we are introduced to the man in John 4:46 his status in life is referenced, halfway through the account, in John 4:50, he is referred to as "the man", but right before he disappears from scripture – he is simply referred to as "the father" in John 4:53.

No matter our position in life, no matter where we live, no matter the issue we face, the last way the man is referenced by the Holy Spirit should be a lesson to all fathers when it comes to the subject of priorities.
