Martha learned the lesson

And Jesus answered and said to her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things. 42 But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her.”” (Luke 10:41-42)

When a hustling and frazzled Martha was corrected by Jesus it may have stung a little. I don’t want to speak for Martha or for Jesus, but I am confident the answer Martha received to her request that day was not the answer she was expecting! But here is what I admire about Martha – I have no doubt she learned the lesson … she learned to choose the good part that Jesus had in mind.

As disciples, it’s possible that we may lose our focus at times; it’s possible to learn from our mistakes; it’s possible to help others see what we missed. This is what spiritual maturity looks like. It’s a lesson that Martha learned, and it’s a lesson still being taught nearly two millennia later to hustling and frazzled students!

Martha said to Him … 25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. 26 And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?” 27 She said to Him, “Yes, Lord, I believe that You are the Christ, the Son of God, who is to come into the world.”” (John 11:24-27 NKJV)
