A writer observed that we have this life on earth to learn some lessons. He listed four good and important lessons.
After this one, I added a few more lessons, my own list.
- You can trust in God, Psalm 118.8; Titus 1.2; 1 Corinthians 1.9.
- Be loving, Galatians 5.14; 1 John 4.21; 3.23.
- Be grateful, 1 Thessalonians 5.18; Colossians 3.15.
- Respect authority, Ephesians 6.2; 1 Peter 2.17; Romans 13.7.
Now, my list:
- Only one thing matters: eternal life, John 3.15-17, 36; 12.50; 17.3; Romans 2.7; 1 Timothy 6.12; Titus 1.2; 3.7. This life is preparation for the one to come. Do whatever is necessary to be approved by God on the last day.
- Holiness means abandoning the ways of the world, 1 Thessalonians 4.3-8; 1 Peter 1.13-17. Turn away from materialism, forsake carnal passions, put to death selfish ambition, and live simply, genuinely, and with integrity, 1 Cor 9.23-27.
- God will work in your life, if you allow him, for your discipline, sanctification, and perfection, Rom 8:28; Heb 12:4-14. You must submit to the Lordโs entire will, Ezra 10.11; Romans 12.1-2; Colossians 4.12; Heb 10.35-39.
- God always does what is right, and his children should also strive to practice the truth, Matthew 7.13-27; James 1.22-27; 1 John 2.29; 3.7. Grace works in the obedient. Many talk, but few act. Hypocrites abound; the upright will be saved, Psalm 84.11; Proverbs 11.3; Titus 2.7.
So many wonderful lessons can be learned from God’s word. What lessons have you listed?
