A core tenant of Calvinism is a conviction which believes the sovereignty of God leaves no room for the freewill of mankind because the reality of freewill would reduce God’s desire to save the lost to the role of a salesman who lacks any control over the choices of men and women.
In reality, the amazing truth about God’s sovereignty is that it is big enough to allow for the freewill of his creation. Every knee will bow and every tongue will confess one day (Romans 14:10-12; Philippians 2:9-11), but this day we must choose to follow or to walk away from following our Creator (Deuteronomy 30:19; Joshua 24:14-15; Ezekiel 18; Matthew 23:37; 2 Peter 3:9).
A failure to be satisfied with an almighty sovereignty that allows for a mortal freewill is the result of a conjecture that attempts to redefine an almighty sovereignty in a way that does not allow God to appear as a mere "salesman" who fails to persuade those in need. This failure is based upon a worry that does not worry God!
The almighty sovereignty of God is not afraid to take on the genuine appearance of a husband with an unfaithful spouse, a parent who has lost a child, a landowner with ungrateful stewards, a shepherd who has lost sheep, a farmer with tares in the field, a baker who depends upon leaven, a potter with imperfect clay, or even a salesman using persuasion to complete a transaction; and it does so without any concern for how it appear to others (1 Corinthians 1:18-31).
“17 Because you say, ‘I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing’—and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked— 18 I counsel you to buy from Me gold refined in the fire, that you may be rich; and white garments, that you may be clothed, that the shame of your nakedness may not be revealed; and anoint your eyes with eye salve, that you may see.” (Revelation 3:17-18 NKJV)
