The Light We Shine
The light we shine is not a blinding glare,
But warmth in the cold, a well-marked path to share.
Against the darkness, hope and love combine
To bring the sinner in to drink and dine.
At Jesus’ table, we’re light to see and sup,
A holy band who share a single cup.
A single loaf of bread is ours to break,
Unleavened act of courage with walls that shake.
The Lord of light and love among us reigns,
His gloried mission running in our veins.
Across the earth the Savior’s message sweeps;
And faith in God and Christ to Heaven leaps.
