Good news: what Jesus can do for our lives

Jesus announced he came to enable us to have an abundant life (John 10:10). He described the purpose of his life as seeking out people who need help and saving them (Luke 19:10). Here are some of the ways Jesus makes a difference for our lives.

  • Forgiveness and A Clear Conscience – Jesus’ death made it possible for God to forgive our guilt to give us a clean slate. Ephesians 1:7; Hebrews 8:6,12; 9:14; 10:22; 1 John 1:7
  • Belong To God – Jesus’ death made it possible for God to adopt us as his children, his people. 2 Corinthians 6:18; Hebrews 8:6,10; Galatians 3:26;       John 1:12-13
  • A New Beginning – No matter how much we have broken our lives, Jesus enables us to have a fresh start with a new type of life, a transformed life God’s power makes possible.  Ephesians 1-2;       Titus 3:3-8; John 1:12; 1 Peter 1:18-23
  • God’s Promises Become Yes – For those belonging to Christ, all of God’s promises are “Yes.”  2 Corinthians 1:20
  • Access to God – Ephesians 3:11-12; 2:18; Hebrews 10:19,22; John 14:6
  • Peace Within/ Contentment & Peace With God – Romans 5:1; Philippians 4:7
  • Provides Purpose – When God tells us what we are to do with our lives, he gives us purpose and meaning.  Ephesians 2:10; 1 Peter 2:9; 1 Corinthians 6:20
  • Teaches us God’s ways – John 8:28; 12:49-50
  • Grace – Those who belong to Christ receive what they do not deserve. They receive what Jesus made possible. Romans 8:1; 5:1
  • Hope – He provides hope for the present and the future. 1 Peter 1:3; Romans 15:13
  • A Life That Won’t Collapse – Jesus said that if we do what he taught our lives will withstand the storm. Matthew 7:24-25
  • Resurrection & Eternal Life – John 11:25; 1 Corinthians 15;20-22; 1 Peter 1:3-4
  • Heavenly Inheritance – 1 Peter 1:3-5;  John 14:1-4; 2 Corinthians 4:15-5:7

Some of these blessings are automatically received when we rely upon Christ, such as forgiveness, peace with God and heaven. We experience other blessings, such as contentment and a life that won’t collapse, as we continue to believe and to obey Jesus.
