We are the church of God, the body of Christ, the family of our heavenly Father. So it is important what we seek to do.
We seek to do everything in the simplest way possible. We do not want to obscure the power of the Good News of Christ. We want to facilitate its growth in more and more cities and neighborhoods, Matthew 28.18-20. For this is the will of God.
We seek to grow in every way: in love, in good works, in numbers, in spirit, in faith, and in knowledge, Ephesians 4.16; Colossians 1.10. For this is the will of God.
We seek to worship God acceptably, Hebrews 12.28, in spirit and in truth, John 4.24. We do not want to worship him in vain, Matthew 15.8-9. For this is the will of God.
We seek to go to the world and bear much fruit that remains, John 15.1-17. We want to be servants who are faithful to the charge we have received from the Lord. For this is the will of God.
We seek to give a good example to our family in Christ. We do not want to offend or cause anyone to stumble. We want to emphasize righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit, Romans 14.13-18. For this is the will of God.
We seek to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in this world, Titus 2.12. We want to be a sanctified people, 1 Thessalonians 4.1-8. For this is the will of God.
We seek to live a decent life that wins respect of outsiders. We want to work to provide for ourselves so that we will not be in need and depend on others, 1 Thessalonians 4.10-12. For this is the will of God.
We seek to remain in the truth, Galatians 2.5. We want the truth to prevail, Proverbs 12.19. We want to know and practice the truth, John 3.21; 8.32. For this is the will of God.
We want to do everything to please God. We seek to be approved by him. “For the one who serves Christ in this way is pleasing to God and approved by people” Romans 14.18 NET.
And you? What do you want to do?
