Why was Matthew one of the apostles? Why did he, with his fellow-apostles, change the world forever? I believe understanding what the following passage from Matthew says, will answer our questions,
As Jesus passed on from there, He saw a man named Matthew sitting at the tax office. And He said to him, “Follow Me.” So he arose and followed Him (Matthew 9.9).
Stated simply, Jesus said, “Follow Me,” and Matthew followed Jesus. Unhesitating, unflinching, undoubting, unquestioning obedience made Matthew an apostle who could change the world. Jesus is the Lord. Matthew was the follower. Therefore, he fell into line and changed the world!
What will happen if you obey the Lord in that manner?
