Paul wanted his Jewish brethren saved, even willing to experience the worse thing imaginable, if it could save his brethren,
For I could wish that I myself were accursed from Christ for my brethren, my countrymen according to the flesh… (Romans 9:3).
Paul was willing to do anything for his fellow-Jews to save them, even suffering eternal separation from Christ, if that could have accomplished it.
Of course, Paul knew that such could not happen, nevertheless, that was the sincere desire of his heart.
