The accusation against Jesus

As Jesus hung on the cross, the Romans made a sign to display over His head that anyone passing by might know for what reason the Romans crucified Him,

And they put up over His head the accusation written against Him: THIS IS JESUS THE KING OF THE JEWS (Matthew 27:37).

As the King of the Jews, the Romans perceived Him as a threat against Rome, and so they gave Him what any enemy to the throne would receive, death.

The Jews believed the accusation was that Jesus claimed to be the King, whereas, they did not accept Him as their King, yet, we know that He was the King of the Jews, and that He is the King of all who trust and obey Him.
