Jesus remained silent as many accused Him of things, but the high priest tired of this, and wanted Jesus to say something, almost anything that the Jewish council could latch onto and convict Him of being a fraud.
Therefore, when the high priest could not stand the silence of Jesus any longer, watch what the high priest did and how Jesus responded,
But Jesus kept silent. And the high priest answered and said to Him, “I put You under oath by the living God: Tell us if You are the Christ, the Son of God!” Jesus said to him, “It is as you said. Nevertheless, I say to you, hereafter you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Power, and coming on the clouds of heaven” (Matthew 26:63–64).
When asked whether He was the Son of God, which was asking whether God was His Father, Jesus had to speak, for He cannot deny Himself (See Second Timothy 2.11–13).
