Why did Israel honor Moses, and why does the church honor him? Perhaps this gives a clue,
And the Lord said to Moses,
“Behold, I come to you in the thick cloud, that the people may hear when I speak with you, and believe you forever.” So Moses told the words of the people to the Lord (Exodus 19:9).
First, the people heard God Himself speaking to Moses, and what God also told Moses in private, he relayed to the people, and because God had spoken to Moses in public, the people trusted what Moses said happened in his private conversations with God.
We continue to honor Moses by honoring the One of whom Moses spoke, Jesus of Nazareth (John 5:45-47).
