The Lord’s zeal for Zion

An angel told Zechariah what to write,

“So the angel who spoke with me said to me, ‘Proclaim, saying, “Thus says the Lord of hosts: ‘I am zealous for Jerusalem and for Zion with great zeal. I am exceedingly angry with the nations at ease; for I was a little angry, and they helped—but with evil intent’”’” (Zechariah 1:14–15).

The Lord loves His people, but sometimes He has to discipline them, and in the case of Israel of old, He used the nations to set His nation back on track. However, those nations went overboard, enjoying what they got to do against Israel or Judah. Hebrews 12 shows that the church is the Lord’s current Zion, and He does likewise with us.
When the nations go overboard, His zeal moves Him to work on behalf of His people. Therefore, to the world we say, Yes, the church is weak right now, because we have not been what the Lord wants us to be, and so He is allowing you some dominance over the church right now, especially in the western nations, but in time, we will become again what He wants us to be, and then He shall go after you.
