If you claim to speak the truth of God, be sure that is precisely what you do rather than just speaking nonsense. Here is why. Listen to what the Lord God said to the false prophets of Ezekiel’s day,
“Therefore thus says the Lord God: ‘Because you have spoken nonsense and envisioned lies, therefore I am indeed against you,’ says the Lord God. ‘My hand will be against the prophets who envision futility and who divine lies; they shall not be in the assembly of My people, nor be written in the record of the house of Israel, nor shall they enter into the land of Israel. Then you shall know that I am the Lord God’” (Ezekiel 13:8–9).
The Lord painted a severe picture for those who make up things and then claim it came from the Lord. To understand why the Lord said that those who do such will have the Lord’s hand against them by not allowing them to be in His assembly, think of your reaction when people intentionally misquote you.
