Do not repeat the sins of past generations

What have past generations gained by their sin? Nothing, but in every case sin brought down all past nations that did not repent of their sin. The Lord had to remind the Jews why He had sent Babylon against them (Jeremiah 44:1-6), but some of the survivors did not learn, and the Lord asked them,

“Why do you commit this great evil…” (Jeremiah 44:7-8).

He asked further,

“Have you forgotten the wickedness of your fathers, the wickedness of the kings of Judah, the wickedness of their wives, your own wickedness, and the wickedness of your wives, which they committed in the land of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem?” (Jeremiah 44:9).
He reminded them that their fathers had not humbled themselves and even to that day, they still had not humbled themselves, did not fear the Lord, and did not walk in His ways (Jeremiah 44:10).

It is my opinion that we also have a hard time learning the lessons of history, because if you read history, you will find one nation after another repeating the sins and mistakes of previous nations.

Whenever you can, learn church history, Israelite history, and world history, for it will all show you that we must follow the Lord to have good success.
