Thus says the Lord:
“A voice was heard in Ramah,
Lamentation and bitter weeping,
Rachel weeping for her children,
Refusing to be comforted for her children,
Because they are no more.”
How shall I comment upon the weeping of a mother for her dead children? Yet, Jeremiah specified the weeping of Rachel, and from the New Testament (Matthew 2:16-18), we know this represents the weeping that broke out all over Bethlehem and all its districts when Herod ordered the deaths of all males two years old and under.
The weeping must have been colossal, so much so that all the women (and the fathers also, of course), weeping together was like one woman, the great woman Rachel weeping.
Herod ordered these deaths, fearing the birth of the Christ.
Hatred against Christ and His church has suddenly started growing during the first decade of the 21st century. What shall the enemies of the Christ and His church do?
Whatever they do, let us pray to God for deliverance, and let us return good for their evil.
