Godliness and the body

The Holy Spirit said,

“For bodily exercise profits a little, but godliness is profitable for all things, having promise of the life that now is and of that which is to come” (1 Timothy 4:8).

That does not excuse laziness and improper eating, but it simply emphasizes how much more effort we should put into godliness.
Do what you have to do to be physically fit, but put even more effort into being spiritually fit, because while bodily exercise certainly does good, it only profits us for this life, whereas, exercising godliness helps us both now and in the life to come.
