The Jews believed that Jeremiah could not be right about the Babylonians invading Jerusalem and prevailing, because the Jews hosted the temple of God!
However, the Lord reminded them of something from their history,
“But go now to My place which was in Shiloh, where I set My name at the first, and see what I did to it because of the wickedness of My people Israel” (Jeremiah 7:12).
Whatever Israel did in Shiloh, where the tabernacle once dwelt, was so horrible that the Lord wiped out Shiloh to the extent that we do not know of its location to this day.
Sin reproaches any people, regardless of what they have among themselves.
