Paul said that he gave thanks for the Colossian Church and prayed for them always because of their faith and love (Colossians 1:4), which two things would lead to something great,
“because of the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, of which you heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel” (Colossians 1:5).
The Christians at Colossae had heard—by means of the gospel—of the hope laid up in heaven and they responded to it. Paul wanted them to keep that hope and never lose it.
Pray for your friends in the same way.
