Sharing in a preacher’s works and fruits

The Philippian Church supported Paul financially in his work of evangelizing, leading him to say,

“just as it is right for me to think this of you all, because I have you in my heart, inasmuch as both in my chains and in the defense and confirmation of the gospel, you all are partakers with me of grace” (Philippians 1:7).

When he preached, they shared in the results, whether that meant new converts or suffering.

They did not suffer directly, but since they backed him, then it was as though they also suffered, and that is commendable before God.
