Miracles and the things of children

Paul explained that miracles were necessary in the first century church to help the church reach maturity, which it did in the first century. 
Therefore, once reaching maturity, the church no longer needed the things of childhood, which he connected with the miraculous. 
He said, 

“When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things” (1 Corinthians 13:11).
