Why you need to read the Proverbs of Solomon

As the Book of Proverbs begins, verses 2-6 reveal the reasons for reading the Proverbs. Notice verse 6,

“To understand a proverb and an enigma, the words of the wise and their riddles” (Proverbs 1:6).

Understanding the words of the wise leads to understanding life, which is precisely what you see in the Book of Proverbs.
So, sit down with your Bibles open to the Book of Proverbs and let God pour His wisdom into your soul, and watch how it affects your view of human behavior.

  1. Every time I read the book of Proverbs, I am “cut to the quick.” I like to read it all in a short period of time, and let the themes that come up over and over saturate my mind and heart. The last time I read it, the verses about holding your tongue and controlling your anger really stood out to me.
