Protection for Paul
Forty Jews put themselves under oath not to eat anything until they had killed Paul. When the Romans discovered the plot, here is what the Roman commander did,
“And he called for two centurions, saying, ‘Prepare two hundred soldiers, seventy horsemen, and two hundred spearmen to go to Caesarea at the third hour of the night; and provide mounts to set Paul on, and bring him safely to Felix the governor’” (Acts 23:23-24).
The Roman commander wanted to make sure Paul arrived at his destination safely, providing more than enough soldiers to fight off forty men!
That certainly could have made Paul feel important, but he never thought that of himself, or if he did, he changed and gave all the glory to Jesus Christ.
When people go to a certain deal of work for you, be sure to honor God through His blessed Son.
