The bodily sting of guilt

Psalm 38 shows how the guilt of sin stung David, and in verses 3–8 he spoke of how it affected his body. Look at verses 6–8,

“I am troubled, I am bowed down greatly; I go mourning all the day long. For my loins are full of inflammation, and there is no soundness in my flesh. I am feeble and severely broken; I groan because of the turmoil of my heart” (Psalm 38:6-8).

We are spiritual beings inhabiting bodies of flesh. Therefore, what happens to the spirit affects the body, and when guilt racks the spirit, it will rack the body also.

Therefore, when we sin, let us repent, confess our sin to God, and seek His forgiveness, and knowing that He does forgive will release us from the bodily sting of guilt.
