When Paul entered Athens, he saw a city captivated by idolatry, and when the local philosophers wanted to hear him speak, he used their idolatry as an opportunity to reveal to them the one true God,
“for as I was passing through and considering the objects of your worship, I even found an altar with this inscription: TO THE UNKNOWN GOD. Therefore, the One whom you worship without knowing, Him I proclaim to you…” (Acts 17:23).
So began a great dissertation on the true nature of the Creator. Since God exists, we cannot worship Him in ignorance, but we must know what we are doing.
Do you understand all that you do in a worship service?
