Cornelius followed instructions

As a military officer, Cornelius knew the necessity of following the instructions of a superior. Thus, when an angel told him to send for Peter, the Bible says,

“And when the angel who spoke to him had departed, Cornelius called two of his household servants and a devout soldier from among those who waited on him continually. So when he had explained all these things to them, he sent them to Joppa” (Acts 10:7-8).

He carried out the instructions just as he would have instructions from his military superior.

Is there anything wrong with thinking in that manner? Why can we not all follow the instructions of our superior, the Lord Jesus Christ?
