Some people debate without much thought, because they are angry, or just disagreeable and so they gladly enter into arguments. However, if you come up against someone who knows the word of God, you better be careful, lest he humble you, as it is written of Stephen,
“Then there arose some from what is called the Synagogue of the Freedmen (Cyrenians, Alexandrians, and those from Cilicia and Asia), disputing with Stephen. And they were not able to resist the wisdom and the Spirit by which he spoke” (Acts 6:9-10).
Therefore, they resorted to violence. However, disputing and killing cannot stop the word of God. It is better to join those who know the word rather than fighting against it.
