David: dead and buried—still

Peter quoted Psalm 16, written by David, because the ancient king spoke of a resurrection, but Peter argued that David could not have spoken of his own resurrection, for as the apostle declared,

“Men and brethren, let me speak freely to you of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his tomb is with us to this day” (Acts 2:29).

Therefore, David spoke not of Himself, but of another, and if you keep reading, you will discover of whom Peter spoke.
