A command to ignore
Generally we must do what the authorities say, but when the Pharisees issued a certain command, it was to be ignored,
“Now both the chief priests and the Pharisees had given a command, that if anyone knew where He was, he should report it, that they might seize Him” (John 11:57).
The chief priests and Pharisees wanted to kill Jesus, although He had not done anything worthy of death, or of any kind of punishment. It seems that everyone ignored the command, except one of Jesus’ own disciples.
