Luke wrote concerning the approaching hour of the death of Jesus,
“When the hour had come, He sat down, and the twelve apostles with Him. Then He said to them, ‘With fervent desire I have desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer…’” (Luke 22:14-15).
Jesus knew what was coming in the next several hours, nevertheless, He still desired to eat that particular Passover with them, for He was the true Passover of which the ancient Passover symbolized.
He would die, but by His blood shed in a violent death, He would give occasion for God to pass over the sins of the world, if people in the world choose to follow Jesus.
