As Jesus spoke of the coming destruction of Jerusalem and as the people saw the approaching armies, He warned,
“But woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babies in those days! For there will be great distress in the land and wrath upon this people” (Luke 21:23).
Once the Romans appeared, everyone would need to get out of the area quickly, because they would not have mercy on anyone, including pregnant women and nursing mothers.
He wanted His disciples to know just how horrible the destruction of Jerusalem would be.
Christians in the first century saw the signs of which Jesus spoke, and they got out of there, and history says no Christians died in the siege.
