Misjudging

Eli did something to the mother of Samuel that happens many times daily throughout the world,

“And it happened, as she continued praying before the LORD, that Eli watched her mouth. Now Hannah spoke in her heart; only her lips moved, but her voice was not heard. Therefore Eli thought she was drunk” (1 Samuel 1:12-13).

We think we know what is going on, but find out later that we misjudged the person, just like Eli did with Hannah.

The news is filled with this sort of thing; either the reporter speaking before having all the facts, or manipulating what has been revealed to give the slant that the reporter so desires.

Let us not commit Eli’s mistake and let us not accept what others say until we have all the facts.
