Israel defeated the first city, Jericho, in the Land of Canaan, but at the second city, they lost the battle,
“Then Joshua tore his clothes, and fell to the earth on his face before the ark of the LORD until evening, he and the elders of Israel; and they put dust on their heads” (Joshua 7:6).
Something went wrong, and since they were expecting victory, they sought to find out the problem, presenting themselves before God in abject humility.
Little did they know that one of the Israelites had done something that he should not have done.
However, when they discovered the problem, they remedied it.
When things have not gone as we expect in the church, it would be good to humble ourselves before God, and ask Him what is wrong.
