Congregational reading every seven years

Before Moses died, he instructed the priests and the elders of Israel that in the year of release, which would be every seven years, at the Feast of Tabernacles, they were to gather all Israel together and read the Law to them, and he added,

“Gather the people together, men and women and little ones, and the stranger who is within your gates, that they may hear and that they may learn to fear the LORD your God and carefully observe all the words of this law, and that their children, who have not known it, may hear and learn to fear the LORD your God as long as you live in the land which you cross the Jordan to possess” (Deuteronomy 31:12-13).

Hearing God’s word leads to fearing God. Do you think our generation needs to learn the fear of God? Yes, and we should all start reading the word ourselves that we might learn to fear Him, and others will follow us.

It is also a good idea to read the word with others. Try it and see what happens.
