What Gethsemane means to us

Gethsemane means, “oil press,” signaling the kind of trees grown there, and what the builders of the garden did there, pressing olives to get the oil from them.
However, we know the Garden of Gethsemane for this reason,

“Then they came to a place which was named Gethsemane; and He said to His disciples, ‘Sit here while I pray’” (Mark 14:32).

The burden on the soul of Jesus pressed upon Him like an olive press squeezing the olives, bringing forth oil, but the burden upon Jesus brought forth sweat mingled with blood (Luke 22:44).
