One of the most important chiasmi ever

When Jesus said,

“The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath” (Mark 2:27),

He gave what we call a chiasmus, or inverted parallelism. See how “Sabbath” and “man” switch places in the second line.
Jesus spoke a chiasmus when he exposed the hypocrisy of the Pharisees, who sought self-glory, and the Lord declared.
“And whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted” (Matthew 23:12).
I do not know that there can be any greater chiasmus, because this one declares what will happen to us during life, and what will happen at the Judgment.
Therefore, humble yourself under the mighty hand of God that He may exalt you in due time!
