How shall we deal with deceivers? Let us watch Jacob as his uncle/father-in-law deceived him repeatedly and see how Jacob dealt with it.
Jacob loved Rachel and proposed that he work seven years for Laban to have his daughter as a wife. Seven years passed,
“Then Jacob said to Laban, ‘Give me my wife, for my days are fulfilled, that I may go in to her’” (Genesis 29:21).
So, Laban gave Jacob Leah, the oldest of the two women, and Jacob confronted Laban about the deception.
After a week, Laban gave Jacob Rachel, and Jacob loved Rachel more than Leah (Genesis 29:22-30).
Jacob confronted Laban about the deception, but Jacob also accepted the customs in that location, because it was customary to have the older daughter marry first.
Jacob knew how to be angry, but how to keep his cool also.
Keep reading the story of Jacob and we will together find out more ways that he dealt with a deceiver.
