Violence grew intensely on the earth after Cain killed his brother, so much so that the Lord decided to destroy the entire human population, except for one man and his family, and the land animals they would rescue,
“So the LORD said, ‘I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth, both man and beast, creeping thing and birds of the air, for I am sorry that I have made them.’ But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD” (Genesis 6:7-8).
Noah’s name means rest, but during his first six hundred years of life, he witnessed violence, evidently far worse than anything we witness today.
Thank the God of heaven that there was a man who was not only a man of rest in name, but in manner of life, because through that man we are all here today!
If you pursue a life of peace, what good shall you bring into the world?
