The Jews torn down their homes in Jerusalem, because the material was needed for the war against Babylon (Jeremiah 33:4, 5), but the Lord promised that He would rebuild the city,
“Behold, I will bring it health and healing; I will heal them and reveal to them the abundance of peace and truth. And I will cause the captives of Judah and the captives of Israel to return, and will rebuild those places as at the first” (Jeremiah 33:6, 7).
However, He would have to cleanse them of their sin, and once that was done, then Jerusalem would be to Him a place of joy, and all the nations of the earth would hear of the good that He had done to Jerusalem (Jeremiah 33:8, 9).
Men and women rebel against the Lord until He does whatever has to be done to get their attention, and when they finally turn to Him, He forgives.
If you have turned to the Lord from a life of sin, He has forgiven you. Rejoice in it and enjoy your relationship with Him.
