Paul kept in contact with the churches that he started, or that he had worked with in some way. To the Colossian Church, he said,

“Tychicus, a beloved brother, faithful minister, and fellow servant in the Lord, will tell you all the news about me” (Colossians 4:7).

This is a good thing for us to do, but to do it as Paul did. You will notice that in his letters, his reporting, whether he was doing it or someone was doing it for him, was spiritual in nature, because he wanted brethren to know how the work was going.

He might mention health or some other earthly matter, but it did not occupy his thinking.

What occupies your thinking, hence your reporting?
