Sometimes it would be good to know the future, and at other times, we may not want to know. Isaiah told King Hezekiah,
“And [the Babylonians] shall take away some of your sons who will descend from you, whom you will beget; and they shall be eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon” (Isaiah 39:7).
Hezekiah knew that Judah had gone astray in the past, and he knew that they would in the future, even during the generations of his most recent descendants.
That would have hurt to know, but Judah needed to know of their sin, and that God would do as promised, taking them to captivity for their relentless sin.
Let us all repent, lest we suffer something horrible.
