It is sad when a preacher has to defend himself or his ministry to those to whom he preaches or has preached.
Paul had to do that in First Corinthians 9. The chapter begins with these words, “Am I not an apostle? Am I not free? Have I not seen Jesus Christ our Lord? Are you not my work in the Lord?” (1 Corinthians 9:1).
He then explained his work to the very people he had converted. People often just do not understand the role of a preacher.
A couple years ago, I talked with some people who thought that a preacher could not examine the church’s Bible curriculum, because they said there are no qualifications listed for preachers in the Bible. They added that preachers are not leaders, for the simple fact that there are no qualifications, or so they said.
The Books of First and Second Timothy and Titus explain the work of preachers and show their qualifications.
Then again, do you have to read qualifications in the Bible to know who is able to examine Bible class literature? Do you not want someone who knows the Bible, whether a preacher or not?
Do you understand the work of a preacher?
