It aggravated the psalmist that God appeared to stand afar off while the wicked arrogantly persecuted those who followed God. The psalmist explained,
For the wicked boasts of his heart’s desire;
He blesses the greedy and renounces the LORD.
The wicked in his proud countenance does not seek God;
God is in none of his thoughts.
While the psalmist thought of God constantly, the wicked did not. The wicked renounced the Lord and did not seek God. God did not occupy a place in the mind of the wicked.
How could God look on that and not do anything about it?
