Suffering for the Sins of Previous Generations

King Hezekiah of Judah knew why the nation suffered at the hands of other nations, “For our fathers have trespassed and done evil in the eyes of the LORD our God; they have forsaken Him, have turned their faces away from the dwelling place of the LORD, and turned their backs on Him. They have also shut up the doors of the vestibule, put out the lamps, and have not burned incense or offered burnt offerings in the holy place to the God of Israel” (2 Chronicles 29:6-7).
Therefore, in the first month of his reign, he began to make things right and God blessed the king mightily for it.
Sometimes we have to confess the failures of previous generations and then make things right, and the sooner we do it, the sooner we will be blessed.
