Prepare to Die

Isaiah went to Hezekiah with a message that he was about to die, “In those days Hezekiah was sick and near death. And Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amoz, went to him and said to him, ‘Thus says the LORD: “Set your house in order, for you shall die, and not live”‘” (2 Kings 20:1).
Someday we will hear that message. Even if we do not hear it literally, we all know that day will one day approach us. Hezekiah was thirty-nine years old when he heard Isaiah speak those words. After praying to God about it, He gave the king another fifteen years to live, meaning that he died when he was fifty-four.
What Isaiah told Hezekiah, we should do often, that is, set our house in order, preparing ourselves to go to meet our heavenly Father. Granted we have to live life to its fullest, but we should never deceive ourselves into thinking that we shall live on earth forever.
