The Lord Destroyed Idolators

One king after another in the northern kingdom of Israel, sinned by worshiping false gods, and the Lord dealt severely with the kings who led Israel into sin, “In the twenty-sixth year of Asa king of Judah, Elah the son of Baasha became king over Israel, and reigned two years in Tirzah.” Then Elah’s servant Zimri killed him and reigned as king. Also, when Zimri began to reign, “…he killed all the household of Baasha; he did not leave him one male, neither of his relatives nor of his friends.”
This happened because the Lord willed it to be so, “Thus Zimri destroyed all the household of Baasha, according to the word of the LORD, which He spoke against Baasha by Jehu the prophet, for all the sins of Baasha and the sins of Elah his son, by which they had sinned and by which they had made Israel sin, in provoking the LORD God of Israel to anger with their idols” (1 Kings 16:8–14).
What a sad end many sons and daughters of Abraham met. Let us not commit the same errors, but always remain true to the Lord Jesus Christ.
