Stirring Up the People

Pilate could find no fault in Jesus, and for that, Pilate sought to let Jesus go, but the chief priests and the crowd would not let that happen, “But they were the more fierce, saying, ‘He stirs up the people, teaching throughout all Judea, beginning from Galilee to this place'” (Luke 23:5).
Jesus did awaken the people spiritually. He did stir them up to love God and to love one another, and Jesus stirred up their spirits by showing them the miraculous power of God.
However, Jesus never stirred the people up against Rome, yet, that was the impression that the chief priests wanted to leave upon Pilate, knowing that would persuade him to execute Jesus.
The same sort of thing goes on in politics today, where certain people of influence take partial truths, and pervert and twist them to get people to imagine that some politician means great harm.
Beware of everything you hear and be sure it is the truth.
